Manufacturing Engineer
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving operational excellence through process improvement, manufacturing support, safety leadership, environmental compliance, facilities management, and equipment reliability within a plastics manufacturing environment. This role serves as a key technical leader responsible for improving productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with production, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams to support continuous improvement initiatives, capital projects, and sustainable plant operations.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with plastics processing such as injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, thermoforming, or related manufacturing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, process improvement, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with OSHA compliance, safety programs, and risk assessment.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software applications.
Preferred
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in plastics manufacturing.
  • Experience optimizing molding processes, tooling, and resin utilization.
  • Knowledge of plastics material properties, processing parameters, and quality systems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • Experience with environmental compliance and EPA regulations.
  • Knowledge of machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), ergonomics, and facility systems.
  • Experience with CMMS and preventive maintenance systems.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
Additional Key Responsibility
Plastics Manufacturing Support
  • Provide technical expertise for plastics manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting, process optimization, scrap reduction, cycle time improvements, and quality enhancement.
  • Support mold and tooling evaluations, maintenance planning, and process validation activities.
  • Optimize processing parameters to improve product quality, machine efficiency, and material utilization.
  • Partner with production and quality teams to resolve molding and manufacturing issues while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
